Lynda Swinbourn

Education Consultant

Lynda attained a Bachelor of Science Degree and her Higher Education Diploma before embarking on a teaching career for over 10 years as a Senior Physical Science and Life Sciences teacher in both Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal. During this time she volunteered to help students upgrade their matric where English was their second-language and this sparked her interest in teaching English as an additional language. For 19 years Lynda was involved in various teacher development projects. She spent 9 years at Inanda Seminary, in many capacities, including Academic Curriculum Director. An important role here was that of mentoring teachers, teacher interns as well as students. She has also gone back to her roots and is working as a sessional tutor for Science Students at the University of Witwatersrand whereby she monitors and evaluates second, third and fourth year Science education students. Amidts all of this, Lynda is also an education consultant to Edufundi, focusing on 'Teach Like a Champion' techniques and mentor development.

Robyn Pitot

Intermediate Phase Mentor and Content Development Specialist

Robyn has taught high school English, Accounting and Life Orientation at a wide range of schools and institutions including Durban Girls’ High, Maritzburg College and most recently Inanda Seminary for 15 years, lectured in Communication Science and Accounting at Varsity College. Began her teaching career as classroom assistant and sports coach at Westbourne House, a preparatory school in Chichester, England has a BEd from UNISA. She has completed a number of Comrades and Two Oceans marathons.

Nelisiwe Neli Mohali

Foundation Phase Mentor

Neli holds a Junior Primary Teaching Diploma, Higher Education Diploma and a Bachelor of Education Honours and has 16 years of Foundation Phase teaching experience in South Africa and the UK. Neli left teaching in 2005 to work in the NGO space focussing on all aspects of language training in the Foundation Phase. She has worked in most districts in KZN, in deep rural areas and in semi urban schools.


Neli is passionate about her work and teacher development and has first-hand experience that changing the mindset leads to sustainable outcomes.

Pamala Naicker

Intermediate Phase Mentor

Pam joins us with 36 years of teaching experience which includes 13 years of HOD experience.  She completed her Senior Primary Education Diploma from Springfield College of Education in 1984 specialising in geography and Needlework, and then obtained a Higher Diploma in Education specialising in Geography and Mathematics. Pam has strong management skills and ran the remedial and maths programme and was the cluster coordinator for maths. Pam is passionate about delivering quality education to learners and enjoys netball.

Nokuthula Kubheka

Foundation Phase Mentor

Nokuthula joined the Edufundi Team in 2014 and specialises in Foundation Phase learners. She attended Natal Early Learning Resource Unit (NELRU) courses, which motivated her to learn how to work with young learners, especially those from disadvantaged communities. She has been teaching since the age of 19,  received her PTC in 1977 at the Mpumalanga Training College, her PTD from 1994-1996 and her HDE from 1997-1999, both from Springfield College of Education. She currently boast 35 years of teaching experience, 8 as Head of Department and 10 years as a school Principal.

Nobuntu Makhaye

Intermediate Phase Mentor

Nobuntu comes to us with 20 years’ experience as a teacher, which include 12 years as HOD of Intermediate and Senior Phase and 3 years as Principal. After completing her Senior Primary Teachers Diploma (SPTD) in 1995 she started teaching in 1996, she then obtained a Further Diploma in Education (FDE) with specialisation in Management, Advance Certificate in Education (ACE) with specialisation in School Library Development and Management and then BED Honours, specialising in Leadership and Management. Her achievements include establishing a Library and getting donations from Biblionef, and reading supplements from Nalibali, winning a Nursery for her school from Landcare through the Schools Environmental Education Programme (SEEP) and engaging learners and staff in G.E.T Excellence Awards and winning at District Level.

She is very passionate about teaching and excels in IsiXhosa Home Language, English FAL, LO and Social Sciences.

Musomuhle Mazibuko

Teacher Assistant

Musomuhle joined the Edufundi team in July 2014 and is currently teaching assistant, with 3 years teaching experience in the Foundation phase (Grade 1 and R), has obtained Early Childhood Development certificates, Orientation, Themes and NQF Level 4, as well as a computer certificate which enables her to teach computer lessons part time. She also has 3 years’ library experience.

Vuyokazi Vinqi

Leadership Support Coach

Vuyo holds a Primary Teachers Diploma, Higher Diploma in Education, Bachelors of Education, an Advanced Certificate in Education, Post Graduate Diploma in HIV/Aids Management and has 24 years’ teaching experience including Deputy Principal and Principal.  She also completed a challenging Instructional Leadership course in 2017 which helped her to gain a deeper understanding of the structure and content used by Edufundi for TLAC presentations. Her voice of leadership and diplomacy as a principal has gained her much respect and a strong presence in the community of Gugulethu and the Western Cape.  She is a strong motivator with a positive attitude who strives for perfection in her work. Vuyo is actively involved in her church as a President of the Women’s Ministry Cape Region, motivational speaker for women and youth programmes and as a member of the Education Committee.

Miselwa Kwinana

Foundation Phase Mentor

Miselwa started out as a Foundation Phase teacher in 1977 after having completed her studies at Clarkbury Training School, the University of Cape Town and UNISA. She then studied further remedial education where she then became a Learning Support Facilitator. She supported teachers in remedial education and ran workshops to support them in that regard. She later became a Learning Support Adviser where she supported learner support teachers in different schools, as well as mainstream teachers on how to identify barriers and advising them about relevant strategies to address the barriers identified. She has her own private practice, where she runs Saturday classes to support learners with learning barriers from her neighbourhood in her house. She is committmed to accuracy and quality.

Sylvie Moodley

Intermediate Phase Mentor

Sylvie holds an Education Diploma (Senior Primary) and HED in Mathematics from Springfield College in KwaZulu-Natal. She has 18 years teaching experience at Senior Primary level and has a passion for Mathematics and English. She was a facilitator and  assessor for six years on Seta Learnerships for Adult Learners as well as a facilitator in creative arts for Foundation Phase Educators and a Mentor for Mathematics Educators. She’s also been a part time tutor in English and Mathematics to Primary School Learners.

Tandiwe Mguli

Foundation Phase Mentor

Tandiwe has 21 years of teaching experience and holds a Primary Teachers Diploma, an Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE) and is currently studying towards a Bachelor's degree in Education. She is passionate about education and using her experience to mentor teachers. She is looking forward to the end product and the realisation of her mentoring inputs: working towards the Edufundi mission of unlocking the potential of her mentee’s learners. She is committed to maximizing individual learner performance and inspiring all learners.

In her spare time Tandiwe enjoys reading and playing netball.

Phillip Manenge

Intermediate Phase Mentor

Phillip joined our team in 2016 and is originally from Zimbabwe and has been teaching in South Africa for the past eight years, after obtaining his diploma in education from Mkoba’s Teachers’ College. Most recently Phillip has been teaching Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences at Xolani Primary, one of our partner schools. Phillip is a self-motivator and believes in producing well educated learners of tomorrow for South Africa. His love for sport, especially cricket, is a close contender to teaching as his passion.

Josephine Baholo

Foundation Phase Mentor

Josephine, known as Joyce, holds an Advanced Certificate in Mathematics (ACE MATHS) from the University of Cape Town and has been teaching in the Foundation Phase for 19 years and also served on the school management team as Head of Department for the Foundation Phase. She speaks English, Sotho, Xhosa, Tswana and Pedi. She loves singing and even won an award as a conductor in a music competition! She likes to be around people who are positive, who do not dwell on yesterday's mistakes, but who persevere to make their tomorrow a better one.

Ntsiki Ntusikazi

Intermediate Phase Mentor

Ntsiki holds BA (Hons) and B.Ed degrees. During her years as a teacher, she specialised in language teaching. She also worked as a publisher and was responsible for the publication of different components and titles in 4 Nguni languages from Grade R to 12. Ntsiki is a published author who has published a number of InterSen IsiXhosa Home language titles for different curricular - from Curriculum 2005 to the current curriculum, known as CAPS. For the last 4 years she has developed training manuals for Foundation and Intermediate Phases for the WCED. She used these manuals to do FP and IP in-service training for WCED, training FP and IP teachers on curriculum implementation, language teaching and on Barriers to language learning.

Karin Stevens

Foundation Phase Mentor

Karin has a Junior Primary Teachers’ Diploma and HDE from Cape Town College of Education and 15 and a half years teaching experience as a Foundation Phase Teacher in the employment of the WCED. She has taught at schools in both Metropole South and Central. She also spent two years teaching between two International schools, an IB World School and a combined English/Portuguese school, in Luanda Angola. She has teaching experience from Preparatory to Year 6 in various roles; Class Teacher, Learning Support, English as an Additional Language and one to one Learning Partner within the classroom. Karin enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as reading, traveling and being creatively engaged.

Loveness Mahwire

Intermediate Phase Mentor

Loveness holds a Bachelors Degree in Education, Honours in Mathematics, Bachelor in Education and Diploma in Education. Currently she is a first year Masters student in Mathematics Education at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Having 16 years teaching experience, Loveness has been teaching from grade 4 to grade 9 subjects that include Mathematics, Natural Science and English. She is an active member of AMESA - Association for Mathematics Education of South Africa.

Bulelwa Mjila

Foundation Phase Mentor

Bulelwa joined us in August 2018 with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) specialising in Foundation Phase and a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Industrial Sociology and IsiXhosa Mother Tongue.  She has worked as a tutor for Rhodes University in the Information Literacy unit as well as the African Languages Department.  Bulelwa also has been a mentor at University, has NGO experience and was a volunteer to translate Google Web search to IsiXhosa.  Bulelwa has 7 years teaching experience and is committed to improving teaching and learning. She is an active team player who goes beyond her role to be an agent of change. 

Sabina Langson

Intermediate Phase Mentor

Sabina has 16 years of teaching experience and holds a BEd Degree (Diploma in Education and Special Needs Education - Remedial). She has also completed an Assessors Short Learning Programme and has a Certificate in HIV/AIDS Care and Counselling. She has worked as a Mentor and Facilitator for various NGO's for 10 years and is also fluent in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa. Sabina says “I believe that teacher development is an important change lever in the education system and that the quality of teaching is equally important for learner achievement.” Sabina worked for Edupeg briefly in 2014, so she is a returning Edupeg staff member.

Beaulah Foley

Foundation Phase Mentor

Beaulah achieved her Junior Secondary Teaching Diploma at Cicira College in Umtata and went on to teach at a number of high schools in Grahamstown and Port Elizabeth for 19 years. Beaulah then joined Read Education Trust where she was trained to work with Foundation Phase and Intermediate Phase teachers for 9 years. Beaulah trained teachers in the following methodologies: Shared Reading and Writing; Group Reading; Group Guided Reading; Teaching Writing in Intermediate and Senior Phase; Reading for Information and Using a Non-fiction Book in Subject Teaching. Beaulah has worked in most of the Eastern Cape districts, namely Queenstown, Grahamstown, Sterkspruit and Port Elizabeth. Beaulah is also an assessor and has been with Edufundi since 2014.
