2015 marked a year of transition and transformation for Edupeg. To celebrate the success and achievements of the last year we gathered together at SunSquare in Cape Town on the 24th of June to launch our 2015 Annual report. The event was attended by supporters, donors, colleagues, Edupeg directors, Department officials, educators and friends of Edupeg.
Edupeg chairperson Amon Ntuli opened the morning by welcoming all guests and thanking our donors for their support of Edupeg. Edupeg director, Hazel Jacobs, then shared the financial report with all guests. Edupeg CEO, Taryn Casey, then spoke to the current challenges in the education landscape in South Africa and highlighted Edupeg's response to these challenges.
Mrs Vinqi, principal at Edupeg-supported school, Intshinga Primary in Gugulethu, shared how meaningful Edupeg’s role is at her school and the noticeable differences she sees in her teachers and school as a whole.
We were fortunate to have Vanessa Minnaar, Circuit Manager, from the Western Cape Education Department join us and she shared how all Edupeg supported schools in her circuit had received awards for improvement at the Department’s recent award ceremony. She expressed the value of their relationship with Edupeg and how important it is for all parties to join together and walk along-side one other as we are all trying to achieve the same objective of improving education standards and outcomes for all learners.

The Intshinga school choir ended off the morning with some delightful entertainment in the form of song and dance. It was so wonderful to share this very special and important morning with staff and supporters of Edupeg. The buzz and lingering of all guests afterwards was indicative of all the hard work the team put in to the event.
Edupeg’s achievements and new developments are featured in the 2015 Annual Report launched at the AGM. Please take a look at the report to learn more about the work we do. We also showcased two videos which bring to life the work that Edupeg does. This first one illustrates the importance and effectiveness of our teacher mentor support and the second video reflects what we have achieved over the course of the last year.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event and shared the morning with us. We look forward to strengthening existing ties with donors, partners, schools and supporters as well as welcoming new friends to walk alongside Edupeg in unlocking the potential of our children through in-classroom teacher mentorship and support.
