Meet Thembisile Seitshiro. She has been a Grade 6 teacher at Charles Duna Primary School in the Eastern Cape since June 2015. She is originally from the Free State.
Ms Seitshiro first started teaching in 1977 and from 1984 she started to specialise in Maths, Science and Music.
In 1991 she was selected to go to Leeds University in England to study and do research on how to improve teaching methodology for learners to enjoy maths without fear or struggle. She returned to South Africa with many new insights and ideas which she shared with her colleagues and even teachers at neighbouring schools.
These skills have helped her in her delivery of maths teaching in her classroom and continues to share the knowledge she learnt, and is still learning.
Ms Seitshiro understands the importance of constant learning and sharing thereof and it is this mentality that has led to a successful and mutually beneficial mentorship with Edupeg mentor, Penny Burgess. She takes on all of Penny’s suggestions and implements them in her classroom with great effect.
She is excited and enthusiastic about continuing her mentorship with Penny in 2016 and says “we learn new things every day”.
This partnership can only go from strength to strength.
