Hello, my name is Allison Steitz. I am an intern for Edupeg in Cape Town this winter (2015) and I am thrilled to be working with the Edupeg team! I am from California, USA and have spent the past 3 months studying in South Africa. I look forward to spending the last 3 months of my stay working on multiple exciting Edupeg projects. Currently, I am helping Edupeg launch a project in collaboration with two other organizations to improve the literacy rates of Grade 2 and Grade 3 learners in three schools in Gugulethu. The project also serves to complement Edupeg’s efforts to support the teachers and principles at those schools. The potential outcomes of the project are very exciting, and I am so happy to be a part of it. I believe working for Edupeg is an amazing opportunity to acquire project management skills in an NGO environment, to learn more about primary schools in South Africa and the efforts of NGOs to improve and support them, and to work alongside some incredibly inspirational and dedicated people. I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity, and I cannot wait for what is to come.
